Spanish Immersion
In July of 2023 I spent 3 weeks in Barcelona as part of a Spanish language & cultural immersion program. Beyond improving my Spanish skills, I left with a greater understanding of the world. Highlights of my experience included excursions to the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí House Museum, Picasso Museum & Park Güell.
Writing
I love to write. In addition to writing personal essays, I wrote an original screenplay which I ultimately produced as an award-winning short film titled “Anti-Social.”
“Anti-Social” is a self-portrait exploring the experience and emotions associated with being a teenage girl in this day and age and the effects of social media on mental health and self-esteem. My film aims to shed light on how we, as teenage girls, constantly feel like we have to succumb to the unrealistically high societal standards created by social media. Billie Eilish’s “idontwannabeyouanymore” contributes to the film's meaning as it encapsulates the experience of wanting to change one’s appearance, eventually shifting to the recognition that a self-portrait should not be defined by how one looks on the outside.
